Cabo San Lucas, 2008

Cabo San Lucas is the most amazing spot in Mexico. Once you've been you'll never want to go anywhere else. This was the first time I've ever been away from home for Christmas. We stayed at a resort called Pueblo Bonito Sunset Beach. This was by far the most beautiful and relaxing resort I have ever been to. It was on the edge of Cabo and the resort was built into the side of a cliff. Every single room had a view of the ocean.

My favorite part was the sky pool. At the top of the cliff was an infinity pool that overlooked the ocean. You have to go!

Cancun, 2008

I spent my spring break 2008 in Cancun, Mexico. My girlfriends and I went during American Spring Break which was definitely an experience.
Downtown Cancun has some amazing night clubs. One in particular that you have to go to is Coco Bongo's. Every night they put on huge shows with acrobats and stunt people. The pictures below are of Beetlejuice and Spiderman.

This trip was more about fun than learning. It was about getting away from learning a.k.a school. If you ever want to take a break, Mexico is a great place to go.

Cuba, 2007

For spring break 2007 some girlfriends and I flew down to Cuba. Specifically we stayed in Varadero which was absolutely beautiful. If you wanna take a break from the resort, I definitely recommend renting some scooters. It's a great way to get around the city and check out the local fare.

Another thing to check out in Cuba is Havana. We took a bus ride there (a couple hours but so worth it). The city has so much history. We took a guided tour and they explained all the buildings, statues, and art around the city. An interesting thing about Cuba is their license plates. There are several colors and each one has a different meaning. Unfortunately I can't remember what they ALL mean but I do know that the blue one's meant you had to pick up hitchhikers.

Medellin, Columbia

In the summer of 2006 I was fortunate enough to travel down to South America. My dad does business in Columbia and took my sister and I with him for a visit. We flew to Bogota, Columbia and then took a connecting flight straight to Medellin.

Most people have preconceived notions about Columbia and I would like to clarify those. It is not a scary place at all! Everyone there is so nice and inviting. Columbians are extremely proud of where they come from and always want visitors to feel welcome. The only thing that may be alarming is the amount of armed guards posted around the city with rifles in hand. You get used to it after a while.

One thing that was amazing was how clean the city was. Everyday people are picking up debris on the side of the road. There is no garbage in sight only greenery. The weather in Medellin is very temperate. It is usually between 22 degrees and 28 degrees all year round. It rains minimally.

For anyone who is worried about travelling to Columbia, don't be. It is extremely safe.

This is a picture of Medellin.

Australia 2005

My first major trip on my own was to Australia in February 2005. I had recently graduated from highschool and wanted to take some time off. I was travelling with my girlfriend and we flew straight into Sydney. We spent a week there with some family friends. Some highlights of Sydney include the Harbour Bridge Climb (a definite must), Bondi Beach (walk along the ocean wall), and Sydney Fish Market (try to take a boat ride in the Harbour and have lunch here).

From Sydney we flew up to Cairns. Pronounced "Cans" by Australians. My recommendation is to find a travel agent and do a tour with a man named Peaches. He took us off-roading and we were able to see a wild platypus (he told us many Australians have never seen them in the wild). One thing that we weren't aware of is that Cairns is basically a mud flap. There is no beach but they have a beautiful pool though that overlooks the ocean.

The rest of the trip consisted of going down the Eastern coast hitting almost every city and town along the way. Highlights include: sand surfing, watching baby turtles be born, a crocodile farm, and going to an Australian Ranch. I didn't get to see Melbourne or any of the West coast. Most Australians told me to stay away from Ayres Rock (a big tourist site). Apparently it's a waste of travelling time and money.

Australia is the best place to start if you have any travelling jitters!
